FAQ

What to Know When You Travel With Ciao Baby

  • Why should I rent baby and young child equipment?
There are many reasons, but we’ll just list a few:
    • To preserve your sanity. No more lugging bulky equipment through airports, in and out of cars and hotel elevators, up and down stairs at your in-laws or in and out of your garage when visiting family comes to town. Many grandparents don’t want to store baby equipment or assemble cribs. They’ve been there, done that, and are thrilled to let Ciao Baby do the heavy lifting.
    • To protect your children (and the rental property!). Most rental properties don’t provide safety gates, and many have tile and hardwood floors that aren’t the safest for crawling babies and toddlers. Ciao Baby offers state-of-the-art playards, activity centers, and safety gates.
    • To maintain bedtime consistency for your young child away from home. If your child is used to sleeping in a full-size crib, why not have one delivered to your vacation destination? Everyone will be happier and better rested!
    • For entertainment. The last thing a traveling family wants to worry about is carting all their toys around. Ciao Baby gladly provides high quality toys bought in downtown Portsmouth, NH.
    • To save money. No more paying exorbitant airline baggage fees to check items you’d really like to have while traveling, like a jogging stroller, child-carrying backpack, pack'n'play, and high chair. And there’s no longer any need to buy these expensive items away from home only to use them temporarily, or scramble to borrow from friends.
Ciao Baby Equipment Rentals is the solution!

Whether you need a crib, stroller (single, double or jogger), high chair, or carseat, Ciao Baby is here to meet all your baby equipment rental needs!

  • Do you set up the cribs?

Yes, we sure do. They will be all set up and ready for use prior to your arrival if we have access to your rental property and if there are no restrictions in place at your lodging location that would not permit us to deliver and set up the crib until you have checked in.

  • Do you install car seats?

We’re sorry, but we do not install car seats. We can provide you with a user manual detailing how to install your rental car seat, however, and we are always happy to refer you to the nearest police or fire station for further assistance.

  • Is the equipment safe, clean, and in good condition?

Safety and cleanliness are Ciao Baby’s top priorities! We only rent top of the line equipment, and we replace our gear regularly so that our customers always receive equipment in top-notch condition. All of our equipment is purchased brand new.

All Ciao Baby products are JPMA-certified and meet or exceed all current federal safety standards. Additionally, we register every product with the manufacturer and regularly check with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to ensure we are notified of all equipment recalls and stay up to date with all current safety standards.

We are committed to using "green" cleaning products to meticulously clean and sanitize our equipment before and after every rental. We are so passionate about using eco-friendly products that not only sanitize thoroughly, but are also safe for young children, pets and the environment, that we consult with local green cleaning expert, Lindsey Carmichael, author of the book, “Greening Your Family.” (See “Our Green Practices” for more information.)

  • What are the New Hampshire and Maine laws regarding car seats and booster seats?

New Hampshire state law requires children under age 6, or under 55" tall, be restrained in a federally approved car seat or booster seat that is appropriate for the child’s age and weight.

Maine requires children weighing less than 40 pounds to ride in a car seat; and children weighing between 40-80 pounds, and younger than age 8, to ride in a booster seat (or a safety system that elevates the child so that an adult seat belt fits properly.
